Harsha Vardhan G is a highly skilled system software engineer with a passion for computer systems, embedded systems, networking, distributed systems, software-defined networking, and network virtualization. He is currently a Member of Technical Staff at VMware, working in the ESXi kernel team (VMkernel) where he is primarily responsible for enabling vmkernel to work on new hardware and CPU architectures. Harsha graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, where he specialized in system software and embedded systems. Prior to joining VMware, he worked at Cisco Systems, where he validated the design and performance of complex routing and switching platforms for some of Cisco's prominent customers in the service provider and data center segment. He was also involved in the automation efforts of the team. At VMware, Harsha is a part of the VMKernel Memory resource management team, where he is involved in shipping high availability support for VMs with Persistent memory (ESX 7.0u2) and designing, developing, and testing the VMMR (Virtual Machine Memory Monitoring) feature that helps customers in workload performance when the VMs are running on servers in multi-tiered memory (ESX 7.0u3). He is also involved in developing support for hotplug of PCIE Full passthru devices to a VM in the VMKernel platform team (x86). Harsha's education history includes a Master of Science in Computer Systems from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics and Communications Engineering from VIT. He is proficient in various tech stacks, including software engineering and testing, and has relevant experience of 5.95 years.
